FAQ’s and Policies

Session Frequency (for Psychotherapy)

At the beginning of our work together, we will meet at least once a week. By the end of our first session, we will find a weekly day and time that works best for both of us. I do not see patients biweekly or less frequent than that, unless we have discussed that as therapeutically the best course of action. Meeting weekly is fundamental for meaningful work and lasting change.

Length of Treatment

Depending on your goals for attending psychotherapy or couples counseling, treatment length can be as short as a couple of months or as long as many years. I have worked with people with short-term goals and we have met them after only number of consultations or after 10-15 appointments. The average time for many patients is longer than that.

Long lasting and meaningful change often takes long and meaningful work. Since each patient has individualized needs and their world is similarly nuanced, length of treatment is something we can discuss in our first appointment and revisit as often as necessary. You can also read an article discussing How Long Does Effective Therapy Really Take by Enrico Gnaulati, PhD and Jonathan Shedler, PhD.

Scheduling

Please call or complete this brief form to schedule an appointment. I am currently offering in person appointments.

Payments

I currently accept the following payments: Credit Card, cash and check. I do not accept any insurances at this time.

To collect electronic payments, I use an app called IVY PAY. It is a convenient and simple method and I will help you get started with IVY PAY in our first appointment.

Fees

Psychotherapy: The current fees for individual psychotherapy sessions are $300 per session and $350 for couples counseling and parenting/family consultation sessions. You may inquire about a reduced rate (for which I have some patient slots available) which I base off a brief assessment of your financial situation.

I also offer hourly individual supervision and consultation appointments. I provide students, residents and post-docs a reduced rate when we enter into a weekly supervision engagement.

Changes or cancellations

An appointment is a commitment. You may cancel your appointment without cancellation charge up to 72 hours prior to the beginning of our agreed upon appointment. If you cancel the appointment within 72 hours, you will be charged the fee for that appointment.

In order for our work together to be meaningful and lasting, it is important that we communicate honestly and often. If it turns out that an appointment we scheduled doesn’t work for you, please contact me immediately.
